Kearny Street Workshop (KSW), the oldest multi-disciplinary Asian Pacific American (APA) arts organization in the country, brings "KSW Presents" the bi-monthly artist showcase series. Sponsored by the United States of Asian America Festival 2017: Threading Resilience, Kearny Street Workshop will celebrate the launch of Means of Exchange on May 19th, 2017.

With support from the Creative Work Fund and the SoMa Stablization Fund, Means of Exchange teams Kala Art Institute Fellow Weston Teruya, and Murphy Cadogan awardee Kimberley Arteche, with local venues to create community engaged artworks integrated into SOMA storefront businesses- highlighting the history, knowledge, and trades of its community members. To celebrate the launch KSW will feature writer and performance artist, Maryam Rostami, whose one-woman show Late Stage San Francisco had SF Weekly saying it "shatters San Francisco's comforting vanity mirror and holds up its twisted reflection in one of the shards." Local author and activist, Tony Robles and up-and-coming SoMa-based artist, Mary-Claire Amable will open the show.

For 45 years, Kearny Street Workshop has helped to produce, promote, and present Asian Pacific American artists in the Bay Area across multiple disciplines. In recent years, KSW Presents has showcased artists such as music journalist, Oliver Wang, Guggenheim fellow Cathy Park Hong, comedian and storyteller Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Flannery O' Conner Prize winner Siamak Vossoughi, and more.

$7 to $50.
