Listening Posts around the country "share a common purpose: to revitalize or create conversation between local media, civil society, and citizens; to connect people with each other and with sources of information and action on local issues; and to give people a voice in the issues that matter to them in their communities." https://www.listeningpostcollective.org/projects/new-orleans-louisiana

In this interview, New Orleans Listening Post hosts discuss how they produce shows, some of the challenges connecting with residents, where microphone posts are located as well as new projects they are working on.
Listening Posts give everyday people the ability to drop off thoughts, comments and suggestions at locations where their audio remarks are recorded and incorporated into future programs for radio broadcasts.
Producers pick up on themes to guide programming. It's a channel to leverage voices that may otherwise not be heard and offers residents the luxury of being able to submit comments on their time - outside of more restrictive formats like call in shows that are out of synch with working hours.
