Millionaire Democratic SF Rep Pelosi, Real Estate Donations & Eviction Moratorium

by San Francisco Voter
"Chairman George Marcus also donated $263,400 that same month to a committee that benefits the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's campaign, and contributed at least $6.5 million to PACs that work to elect Democrats to the Senate and House." George Marcus is "chairman of both the real estate brokerage firm Marcus & Millichap and the real estate investment trust Essex Property Trust [who] donated $1 million to the House Majority PAC on June 1, days after the CDC extended the moratorium until late June. " See above citation.

Nancy Pelosi does not ever need to campaign in San Francisco as she has a very safe seat.

Now we know why the Democrats let the CDC's eviction moratorium expire on July 31, 2021.

Thanks to the protest of Rep. Cori Bush and others sitting and sleeping outside the Capitol for 5 days demanding Pres. Biden extend the eviction moratorium, the CDC has done just that, extending the eviction moratorium until October. The State of California's eviction moratorium also expires October 1, 2021.

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna (Santa Clara, CA) first blew the whistle on this outrage of Democrats receiving real estate money with the following statement published on July 30, 2021 at https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/congress-scrambles-extend-eviction-moratorium-saturday-expiration-n1275485
"Friday evening, Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., expressed other frustrations. “The reason they’re not bringing it for a vote is because some Democrats privately have tried to kill this bill because of special interest of Realtors and other groups,” he said on MSNBC. “And it is unconscionable that we don't have a vote on the House floor, that we're protecting some members to kill this behind closed doors and aren't being transparent. It's just wrong.”"

The Common Dreams article above continues:

"In addition to Marcus's financial backing of Democrats, The Daily Poster detailed a $2.3 million donation from private equity firm The Blackstone Group to the Senate Majority PAC and the bundling of hundreds of thousands of dollars by lobbyists for real estate interests for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC)."

People are known by the company they keep and it is clear that the Democrats, like the Republicans, are bought and paid for by the real estate profiteers.
