FTAA. March to Duro Bag in Ludlow, Kentucky (greater Cincinnati). NPR coverage.
50 PACE (Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical & Energy Workers International Union) members, local labor leaders, college students and others marched to Duro Bag headquarters in Ludlow, Kentucky (greater Cincinnati). Strike against the company's plant in Rio Bravo, Mexico. Harassment of independent labor union organizing there. Duro Bag situation was mentioned in other FTAA, Quebec A20 articles, too. Public Hearing (2/23) regarding a 51-megawatt "peaker power plant" at SFO.
I've researching our power situation today and ran across this press release from the California Energy Commission. Basically this says a new power plant is being proposed for SF airport, owned by El Paso Merchant Energy. This looks like an alternative to the plant that was going to float on the bay that no one wanted. Looks like there trying to slip this in. A Energy Commission vote is scheduled for Mar. 7. A public hearing is 2/23 at 10 am at the Holiday Inn in South San Francisco....
