Tonight! the Occupation Began in 1492!

by Wendy (uhurureparations [at] yahoo.com)
The brutal occupation of Iraq that we see today is the result of a process started in 1492.
From the Campaign for Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations and the African People's Solidarity Committee:

7 to 9:30pm
Fellowship Hall of Humanity,
390 - 27th St, Oakland
(between Broadway and Telegraph)
call for a ride - Wendy 510-295-7834

Panel Discussion with Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party and founder of the Uhuru Movement, Quetzaoceloacuia of the Barrio Defense Committee, Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, Matthew Shenoda of the Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Penny Hess, African People's Solidarity Committe.

The brutal occupation of Iraq that we see today is the result of a process started in 1492. The arrival of Columbus in so-called North America marked the beginning of the white world’s assault on humanity
with the genocide committed against the indigenous peoples of this land and the enslavement of African people.

For to seriously challenge the Bush regime’s attempt to reimpose colonial rule on the world, we must unite with the aspirations of oppressed peoples for national liberation and reparations for the crimes committed
against them. We make the link between a society born of slavery and genocide and the current war and violence of the United States. Peace can only come about through a struggle for social justice and the
pursuit of truth and reparations.

Look, if it really IS worldwide colonization, don't you think that there would be evidence of colonists? Trade sanctions? Internement and displacement on a meaningful scale?

C'mon already. If you want to make a point, find a believable one that has some supportable, non-selective facts.

As an arab american, i can tell you that the ONLY reason i'm here, and not in Lebanon, is that it is jihadism and pan-arab nationalism have made the place unlivably dangerous and intolerant of any minority or of anyone who is trying to make a life for themselves that the majority doesnt agree with.

And this comes at pain of torture and death. Not just sour-grapes-like complaints like it does in the west.

There was no such thing as a "white" person in 1492.
Secondly in 1492 there were two other empires in the world: the Chinese Ming dynasty and the Ottomans. Do you think that these imperialists of color would have been any nicer to the native Americans had they beat the Spanish to the American shores?
Thirdly, in 2003 the global ruling class is multi-racial, multi-cultural, and multi-national. Your racial analysis is stupid so by your logical people like Sadam and Idi-amin are freedom fighters against whitey.

90% of countries on earth are "occupied" in this manner.

Peace activists only go after the little tiny jewish one, though.

Peace activists respect the right of everyone on earth to harrass everyone else on earth, EXCEPT the jews.

Peace activists these days don't care if muslims harrass and discriminate against muslims, what african christians vs. muslims do, etc. etc. etc., they are now brainwashed and cult-like in their rabid demonization of israel.

THey're lost, and that's why the world is pretty much screwed, because there are still tons of evil people around, and the idiots who call themselves "peace activists" are battling the wrong people
