Robert Fisk: Since when did 'Arab' become a dirty word?
As Professor Michael Bednar of the History Department at the University of Texas at Austen says, "the possibility that someone in Homeland Security will instruct college professors ... on the proper, patriotic, 'American-friendly' textbooks that may be used in class scares and outrages me."...

Rightwing Extremism: Book review of Christoph Butterwegge's "Rightwing Extremism"
"The `rebellion of the respectable' failed because important positions of rightwing extremism take their place `within society'. These positions, particularly `the boat is full', are part of the accepted self-image of `democratic' parties." translated from German...

Live from Palestine: An Interview with writer and ISM member Nancy Stohlman
We’ve got to look at the whole situation again and see that this is not an “even battle” between “sides,” but that Israel has one of the most sophisticated militaries in the world, with more than 200 nuclear warheads, propped up by the United States with billions of dollars. Palestinians don’t have a military...It’s clear who is oppressing who, here. Unfortunately the mainstream media has led people to believe that Israel is right on the brink of extinction. That’s just not so. Israel is a...

Kurt Nimmo: Total War in the Middle East? Israel's attack and US threats against Syria
Sharon's script was authored in collaboration with American neocons more interested in Greater Israel than the threat such actions -- unwarranted attacks on sovereign Arab nations -- will pose to Americans at home and especially abroad in the eventual form of blowback and terrorism....

RON JACOBS: First Syria, Then Iran
...the immediate denial by Hamas and Islamic Jihad lead me to believe that perhaps it was an Israeli organization (governmental or otherwise) that may have killed those guards. After all, Sharon and his government opposes the so-called road map to peace-which is why these Americans were in Gaza in the first place-and if the US can be scared away from even this poor excuse for a solution to the Palestinian situation, then the plan for a Greater Israel can move ahead....

Don't be afraid by Silvia Cattori
The shattered eyes of Palestine are staring at us. They are craving for unity, for justice, for truth, for humanity. Those are the eyes of generations of children who have been deprived of the happiness of their age....

Dave Kersting: Popular Anti-Arab Racism- it's so commonplace, few even think of it as hate
...I would not reveal the target ethnicity:
I would just substitute words for random ethnicities. After I had read about
three or four of the anti-Arab comments (as anti-black, anti-Chinese,
anti-white), the guy told me that this could not possibly be found on the
Berkeley campus: it was openly racist, and would not be allowed, so what was
my point? I had at least a hundred similar comments about "Arabs."...

WARNING: Syria is next in the lineup of endless wars. Israel's Bush-Backed Attack on Syria
Syria, long vilified by the neocons in charge of the White House, was bound to come under either U.S. or proxy attack. Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Perle are determined to bring down the Baathist regime. In July, Undersecretary of State John Bolton, who wants to expand the "Axis of Evil" to include Syria, and who has a history of making asinine accusations about Third World countries designed to justify preemptive U.S. attacks, was supposed to tell members of a House of Representative...

When at a Loss, Escalate -- Strategy behind Israel's bombing of Syria
On Saturday, October 4, Hanadi Jaradat, 29, blew herself up in a restaurant in Haifa, killing 20 people including herself. American media, as usual, reported Jaradat's act without context. But Jaradat, a law school graduate, was reportedly avenging the death of her brother and cousin, murdered on June 12 in Jenin by Israeli death squads, who, according to LAW Society, apparently shot them after taking them in custody....

The War on Al-Jazeera -- by the wife of the Al Jazeera reporter killed in Baghdad
The US was not content with the message it sent to al-Jazeera signed with the blood of my husband; it accused al-Jazeera and other Arab channels of anti-American bias in their coverage of the war. But how biased can a picture of dead people be? A picture of a destroyed house doesn't need a reporter to tell its story, and the tears of children and refugees need no interpreter......
